Following the school rules and regulations is important in achieving our goals. Rules help to keep the school a safe and conducive place for everyone to live and learn in. therefore I feel that the school rules are a necessity of school life. Following the rules even when no one is watching is a form of integrity, which is part of our school’s five core values (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence).
I think that some of our school rules are too strict and the consequences are too heavy. The consequences for breaking most of the school rules are PRIDE time, which is commonly known as detention. For example, latecomers are to serve PRIDE time if they are late but those who come after 8:30am will be treated as a truancy case. This is unfair to those students with family difficulties. What happens if a student is late because he or she has family problems? These situations cannot be helped and it would be cruelly unfair to them if their lateness were to be treated as truancy and truancy is a serious offence and it will leave a bad mark on a pupils grades.
As for the students’ attire and appearance, I agree that every student has to look decent and have an acceptable hairstyle and uniform so as to not tarnish the reputation of the school. Nevertheless, why are white shoes not allowed? It is stated in the pupil’s handbook “ White school socks and school shoes should be worn at all times.” But the school still insists that we purchase and wear school shoes that the school has ordered for us. By doing this, students are not given a free choice to buy whatever shoes they want as long as it is white.
As for behaviour in school, I agree that it is essential for a school to have all pupils to behave at all times in orderly manners. There is also a rule on handphones and MP3s.
I strongly feel that these items should be allowed in school as long as students do not use it during lessons. According to the school rules, if a teacher sees the device, he or she will confiscate the item until parents come and claim it. I feel that it is an extremely unfair regulation as taking out a handphone or MP3 will never do anything harmful. Is it wrong to take out a handphone but not use it? Will something disastrous happen? No. So why are handphones prohibited in school?

EL homework (Singapore Flyer)
The Singapore Flyer is a giant observation wheel from which visitors can experience some of the best views in the entire region. The diameter of the wheel is 150 metres and it is 165 metres high which is the height of a 42-storey building. I went on the Singapore Flyer during a learning journey organized by my school and I realized that we could learn many things while riding the Singapore Flyer. The duration of the ride was about 30 minutes. Each air-conditioned and UV protected capsule could hold up to 28 people.
When we reached the top of the Singapore Flyer, the 360 degrees view was breathtaking. From the top, you can enjoy the picturesque scenery of Singapore’s city (from Changi airport to Sentosa Island). You can also see beyond into parts of Malaysia and Indonesia.
I really enjoyed myself on the Singapore Flyer although some of my classmates were acrophobic. On the Singapore Flyer, we learnt about physics and the math behind the mechanics of each carefully designed capsule to maintain full stability and safety. At the bottom of the Singapore Flyer, there is a rainforest that we can walk into to enrich our learning of science and geography.
The Singapore Flyer is something not to be missed!

EL homework (Chinese New Year)
Chinese New Year (农历新年- Nónglì xīnnián) or Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is sometimes called the Lunar New Year, especially by people outside China. It is an important holiday in East Asia. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first lunar month in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th. This day is called Lantern Festival.
Chinese New Year's Eve is known as Chúxī (除夕). Chu literally means "pass" and xi means "Eve".
Celebrated in areas with large populations of ethnic Chinese, Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had a strong influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbours, as well as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction. These include Koreans, Mongolians, Nepalese, Bhutanese, Vietnamese, and formerly the Japanese before 1873. In Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and other countries with significant Chinese populations, Chinese New Year is also celebrated, largely by overseas Chinese, but it is not part of the traditional culture of these countries.
A reunion dinner is held on New Year's Eve where members of the family, near and far away, get together for the celebration. The venue will usually be in or near the home of the most senior member of the family. The New Year's Eve dinner is very sumptuous and traditionally includes chicken, fish, other dishes and steamboat. In some areas, fish is included, but not eaten completely (and the remainder is stored overnight), as the Chinese phrase "may there be surpluses every year" ( 年年有余 nián nián yǒu yú) sounds the same as "may there be fish every year."
Red packets for the immediate family are sometimes distributed during the reunion dinner. These packets often contain money in certain numbers that reflect good luck and honorability. Several foods are consumed to usher in wealth, happiness, and good fortune.

Discussion on my career choice( qualifications, job scope and future prospects)
As a three-dimensional animator, there are many job responsibilities. You will expected to generate high definition, 3D animated sequences using the right software as well as stunning special effects. This can be used in animated productions for television, games, movies, as well as multimedia channels. As part of the job you will have to draw key poses for traditional animation productions and build models and set them up for animation. You are also supposed to create realistic effects, textures and simulations. Plus, after all these procedures, you will have to light and render the scene.
There are specific personal qualities and skills you need to acquire before you can qualify for the job. In-depth knowledge of a 3D animation software and computer graphics is needed. A 3D animator must also have fine drawing and design abilities and superior communication skills. As you are working with a team of other animators, designers and developers, teamwork is an extremely crucial factor in this career. The entry requirement for this job is to obtain a diploma or degree in digital media or art, with a good demo reel of your work.
There are numerous future prospects and opportunity for this career. You can become an animator, a games cinematic animator, a graphic artist, an illustrator, a modeler, a special effects animator or a storyboard artist. I am planning to be a special effects animator or a graphic artist.

Information about the career of my choice
The career that I have chosen is one that I am sure most people will not think of doing because it is unique and unusual. It is something that I have always aspired to be, and that would be having a job as a 3D animator. I think it is rare that you see people choosing this career path as it necessary to possess good illustration skills and a deep interest in this profession. I chose this career as I am fascinated by three-dimensional graphics and special effects. Another reason is because I am exceptionally fond of sketching and designing three-dimensional objects.

EL homework (is the internet useful?)
The internet is an invention that allows eyeryone to gain access to millions of web pages all over the world.
I feel that the internet is very useful. The internet is created by man to make our lives easier. By using the internet, we have access to MSN messenger which we can use to keep in touch with our friends, hold confrences and chat online for free. The internet also grants us access to the world wide web internet browser and online dictionaries and encyclopedias. Nowadays, the internet has advanced through the years and it is more convenient now with the wireless broadband connection system. With this connection, we can access the internet at almost anywhere from Mac Donalds to various shopping centers. To access the internet browser, all we have to do is go to a wireless hotspot such as Mac Donalds and use a device that is equipped with a WIFI connection such as some handphones, I Pod touch and the sony Playstation Portable and you can access the internet browser for free!
Unfortunately, although there are many good points about the internet, there are some negative points too. Since the internet connects you to anywhere in the world, the are many hackers, cheats and scammers that prey on innocent people. There are also people who use the internet for negative purposes.
I have listed many points about the internet but the positive points overrule the negative points of the internet. Therefore I can finally conclude that the internet is indeed useful and convenient!

EL homework (december school holidays)
The December school holidays was truly a memorable one.
During the December school holidays, I went overseas to Batam, Indonesia. I enjoyed the beach and the resort very much.
During the 3 days 2 nights trip, I went parasailing and jetskiing with my family. The parasailng was very fun as the parachute that was attached to the high speed boat could take you to extreme heights and the wing blowing against your face while jetskiing was simply unforgettable. At night my family and I would have our dinner in a restaurant at the resort. The food served tasted heavenly.
During the December school holidays, I also bought a Playstation Portable with the money I had saved up.
